Chris Wheatley reports that Sokratis Papastathopoulos has offers from several European teams for a January transfer. He’ll leave Arsenal this month, with a decision expected this week.

Gianluca Di Marzio add that Real Betis are joining Genoa in the race for Sokratis, perhaps edging ahead of the Serie A club. Betis held a meeting with the player’s entourage today.

TMW and Chris Wheatley recently confirmed that Genoa were one of several clubs to make contact with Sokratis in recent days. At that point, the defender was yet to make a decision and was assessing his options, but it looks like he’s edging closer now.

Francesco Porzio and Fabrizio Romano also linked Sokratis to Genoa, as well as Fenerbahce. However, at the time, Sky Sport Italia suggested the defender would prefer the Italian side. Now, it looks like he might snub both for La Liga.

Sokratis has been playing with the Arsenal youth teams recently to keep himself sharp for a January move.
