Doncaster Rovers boss Darren Moore has unfortunately confirmed the bad news that Tyreece John-Jules has a hamstring tear.

Tyreece John-Jules was one of three Arsenal loanees to suffer an injury setback last week, with reports at the time hinting at a hamstring problem. Darren Moore said they wanted to give it time before rushing to any conclusions on the injury.

A few days later, the updates aren’t positive. Following scans, Moore confirmed that it’s a hamstring injury set to keep the player out for a while. The only small positive is that it’s not considered enough to end his loan.

“It’s a hamstring injury and we think he’s going to be out for some time,” Moore said. “It’s a bitter blow for us. Later in the week, we will have more news and more of a timescale with it. It’s sad news for us to lose someone of that ilk and quality.

“It won’t be the end of his loan. It’s just getting the timescale now.”

John-Jules made 14 appearances for Doncaster Rovers before his injury, in a campaign already interrupted by one long-term fitness problem. The striker returned to Arsenal in October after a thigh injury sustained on international duty, missing two months.

The 19-year-old had five goal contributions and helped the team to six wins in his last seven appearances, but he’ll be disappointed that this is the third serious injury to impact his two loans away from Arsenal. He can only focus on getting fit again now.
