Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in 24-year-old Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, reigniting a previous pursuit of the player.

El Desmarque report that Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are watching Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler, amid the La Liga club’s current financial and on-pitch difficulties.

The Spanish outlet report that any and all bids are being considered by Valencia at the moment, even for their key players.

With the team only clear of the relegation zone on goal difference, you wouldn’t expect them to let Soler go under normal circumstances. However, Valencia need the money, so it’s not impossible.

Arsenal were linked with a move for the midfielder last year, after reportedly scouting him for a while. But their need for a player with his profile is even greater now.

Soler’s goal contribution stats look impressive at a glance, with six goals and five assists in 13 games this season. Though it’s worth mentioning that all six goals came from the penalty spot. Arsenal have plenty of good penalty takers, they just don’t win many.

There’s no qualification necessary for the five assists though, more than any Arsenal player has managed this campaign. Soler could add a bit of creativity to Arteta’s side in the middle.
