After one substitute appearance in the FA Cup and another in League One in the last week, John-Jules made his first start for Doncaster Rovers since recovering from injury against Northampton Town on Saturday.

The striker had already got himself back on the scoresheet earlier in the week, netting after coming off the bench against Hull City. But if you want starts as a striker, you need to score when you get them, which is exactly what the 19-year-old did this weekend.

36 minutes into the first half, John-Jules got his team off the mark in the game. He received the ball directly from a tackle by teammate Joe Wright, before turning into the box and sending a cute chip over the onrushing goalkeeper.

John-Jules’ movement in the box caused Northampton Town a lot of problems. He put the defender off for Rovers’ second goal and perhaps should’ve scored another himself, as well as completing 75% of his passes as the lone target man.

The striker came off after 78 minutes, and his team ran out 2-0 winners. You’d expect another start when they face Gillingham next weekend.
