Joao Santos, agent to Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, insists Arsenal haven’t made an offer for his client despite the recent rumours.

Sky Sports reported last week that Arsenal held an interest in Chelsea midfielder Jorginho this summer, but the player’s agent insists there are no offers for his client.

Speaking in the last few days, Joao Santos admitted he’d heard the rumours linking Jorginho to Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain. But as far as he knows, there’s nothing in them.

“Jorginho still has a 3-year contract with Chelsea, this one plus 2 more,” Santos began. “I heard a lot about Arsenal and PSG in the last few days, but the reality is that so far no official offer has arrived for the player.

“The market closes on October 5th, but the more time passes the more difficult it becomes to make such an important operation. At the moment, therefore, I can say that it is only rumours.

“He is happy at Chelsea, he started the season well and being the vice-captain at the moment.”

As Santos points out, it just seems like too complicated a deal to get through with the time remaining. Buying a starter from a rival in the final week of the window without even making an offer with days to go just isn’t a likely scenario in the current circumstances.

Arsenal clearly have financial restrictions right now. Otherwise, they would have done the deals for Houssem Aouar and/or Thomas Partey a long time ago. Trying to sign Jorginho doesn’t solve that problem, he’s just a different expensive player.
