Arsenal academy defender Daniel Ballard has joined Blackpool on loan, signing for the Tangerines on deadline day.

Ballard missed out on the Arsenal u23 fixture against Chelsea at the weekend, indicating an imminent move on the cards and it’s good he’s been able to sort out the move before heading off on international duty with Northern Ireland.

The defender went on loan to Swindon Town last season but only lasted three matches before a serious knee injury kept him out for much of the remainder of the season. He returned well just before lockdown but had a couple of minor setbacks after football’s return.

Ballard is back healthy again now, and he was starting for the u23s before this weekend. A year in senior football will certainly help his development.
