Torino remain in pole position for Lucas Torreira, with the next one or two days pivotal for the player’s future, according to a report from Italy.
Matteo Pedrosi reports that Torino aren’t stepping back, and they remain in pole position to sign Lucas Torreira this summer. They don’t have an agreement with Arsenal just yet, but they’re expecting an update in the next day or two.
Torino feel they’ve done what they can to land the signing, but Pedrosi suggests they may still need to do more.
That’s likely partly due to the growing interest from elsewhere. AC Milan formally joined the race for the midfielder this week, making an enquiry with Arsenal and the player’s representatives.
Sebas Giovanelli also reported that Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone recently informed Torreira of his interest.
That could suit Arsenal, given their interest in Thomas Partey. We already know Atletico wouldn’t accept a swap deal, but if they’re willing to invest in a permanent move for Torreira, that would fund the Partey transfer and effectively act as a swap plus cash anyway.
Yet Torino still seem to be at the front of the pack. Until one of the other two clubs gets serious and puts in a good offer, that’s the situation.
