The Torino interest in Lucas Torreira is genuine, according to their club president, with Arsenal pushing a permanent move to them and Fiorentina.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Torino president Urbano Cairo confirmed they’re “considering Lucas Torreira, but he’s not the only target”. Fabrizio Romano claims Fiorentina are also in talks to sign the player.

James Benge adds that in addition to the Torino interest, Fiorentina are in a strong position for the player. However, he denies the recent reports that the player has already agreed a loan deal to join either Serie A club.

Arsenal are still pushing for a permanent sale. They want to raise funds for their other midfielder targets this summer. Selling Torreira is one of the best ways to do so. He’s one of few on the fringes they should be able to move on for at least €25m.

Francesco Porzio also recently reported the Arsenal talks over Torreira with both Italian clubs. He believes they’ll find an agreement in the coming weeks. But he also suggested those conversations were still ongoing.

From an initial list including the likes of AS Roma, AC Milan, Napoli and Lazio, we seem to be down to just two sides seriously in the race at this point. But with neither seemingly meeting Arsenal’s demands just yet, that could quickly change.
