Di Marzio claim Fiorentina are ‘insisting’ on signing Lucas Torreira from Arsenal this summer. They’re currently waiting on a positive response to an enquiry with Arsenal as they push to conclude the transfer.

This fits with other recent reports from Italy about interest from Fiorentina. La Nazione reported that Fiorentina were in contact with Arsenal, though they added that the Gunners responded with a €30m price tag.

That seems like a fair price from an Arsenal point of view. It’s roughly what they bought him for a couple of years ago, after all. Plus it’s not just Fiorentina reportedly in the race, but AS Roma, AC Milan, Napoli, Torino and Lazio as well.

But it all depends on what they each can afford, and whether any of them are keen to pay close to that figure. At the moment, the suggestion is that Fiorentina aren’t.

Torreira is one of a few valuable and potentially sellable assets for Arsenal this summer. He’s young and he still has a contract for a few years. Serie A followers rate him highly from his time with Sampdoria. If anyone wants him, they should pay the €30m.
