Brazilian legend Cafu believes Willian and Gabriel both joined Mikel Arteta at Arsenal to win the Premier League.

Willian made an instant impact in his first appearance for Arsenal, totalling up assists all over the place as Arsenal brushed Fulham aside.

Similarly, that game saw Gabriel thrust into the starting lineup thanks to a lack of options and the 22-year-old responded accordingly.

Gabriel was rested on Wednesday night against Leicester as Arsenal won 2-0 but Willian made an appearance from the bench after 72 minutes when he replaced Reiss Nelson.

They are, I think we can say, first-team starters rather than Carabaoers.

It is easy to get carried away with Mikel Arteta and what he’s doing at Arsenal at present and I don’t think anyone is suggesting Arsenal will win the league this season (although I remember the same discussion happening the year Leicester won it).

Still, it’s nice to know players are coming to the club expecting to win things once again.

“Two great players, I am a fan of both Gabriel and Willian,” World Cup winner Cafu told The Sun, via Yahoo Sports.

“Willian already stood out in the Brazilian team, in the games he played, and stood out at Chelsea.

“Gabriel stood out and continues to impress. I think they are two players who really will perform very well at Arsenal.

“They are players who came, not only to add value, they came to win the Premier League.”
