Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness) report that Arsenal proposed a formula for the signing of Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona, suggesting a loan with an option to buy at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.

Barcelona prefer to sell, so they’re unlikely to agree to any loan offers until the last possible moment. They’re holding out for a permanent deal, though it’s clear the player himself is pushing for a return to the Premier League, limiting his options.

There’s obviously a bit more hype around Coutinho at the moment. He scored twice and assisted one against his parent club for Bayern Munich in that 8-2 win this week. Those goal contributions put him on 20 for the season, one every 105 minutes.

Thanks to that win over Barcelona, Coutinho’s loan isn’t over yet. There’s certainly little chance of any agreement with Arsenal before the Champions League campaign comes to an end.

We looked at what shirt number Coutinho could take if he does sign, if you want to check that out.
