La Liga club Villarreal CF confirmed Unai Emery as their new head coach on Thursday, using an edit of his Arsenal announcement photo to do so.

As previously rumoured earlier this month, Unai Emery will take over as the new head coach of Villarreal. The Spanish club confirmed the appointment on Thursday, though they obviously still haven’t had a chance for a photoshoot with their new boss.

Instead, Villarreal used an edit of the above picture from Arsenal’s unveiling of Emery back in 2018. They just edited out the Arsenal badge on his jacket and replaced the background with a picture of their home ground.

Putting that aside, it’s obviously good to see Emery back in the job for a number of reasons. Mainly, we all probably deserve the chance to move on at this point.

Arsenal fans don’t want to keep hearing about all the clubs Emery is linked with, whilst Emery surely wants to move on from his time with the Gunners. He needs a fresh start so we can close this chapter for good.

Then again, Villarreal qualified for the Europa League this year, so victory for Arsenal in the FA Cup final could set up the start of a reunion. Looking forward to it already…
