George Lewis and his agent are in London as he puts the finishing touches on his move to Arsenal, looking to join up with the u23s next season.
Posting on his Instagram story, Arsenal-linked George Lewis confirmed he’s in London with his agent. Arsenal Youth add that this is to put the finishing touches on a move to the Gunners.
The potential transfer is certainly no secret. The director at his former club confirmed the move, the player talked about his successful Arsenal trial to the media and then changed his profile picture to an edit of himself in an Arsenal shirt. His agent said it was a done deal.
According to reports, Lewis will link up with Steve Bould’s u23 side next season, at least at first.
As we now know for sure, Arsenal made a contract offer to u23 winger Nathan Tormey to extend his stay with the club. However, he decided it’s time to move on. That opens up a spot in the u23 squad for Lewis. Tormey was starting most of Arsenal’s games this season.
We’re just waiting on the official confirmation from Arsenal at this stage. Understandably, it seems like the worldwide situation with coronavirus slowed things down. But it should be a relatively straightforward deal to get over the line now he’s around to do so.
