Arsenal 18-year-old Matthew Dennis seemingly confirmed his exit from this club this summer in an Instagram post this weekend.
Arsenal academy teenager Matthew Dennis was one of a few young players waiting on a decision for his future before the pandemic shutdown.
The 18-year-old was on a scholarship deal with the club, but it comes to an end this summer. As a result, he was waiting for a professional contract offer to extend his stay.
However, it appears the versatile wide player now plans to leave the club when his scholarship deal expires. He wrote “it’s been a pleasure Arsenal” on his Instagram story, strongly hinting at the end of his spell.
Dennis had a couple of positive FA Youth Cup appearances this season, particularly scoring an impressive goal against Southampton in the fourth round.
The league campaign wasn’t going so well (for anyone in the u18s), but he also found a bit of form after the turn of the year, providing three goal contributions in four games.
In addition, the teenager made his u23 debut in August, and he returned to the squad for a game in February. Sadly, it seems his time in North London is coming to an end.
Alfie Matthews also might be on the way out, posting about a ‘big move’ on his own Instagram story. Good luck to them both with whatever’s next!
