Alexandre Lacazette is now the priority forward signing for Inter Milan if Lautaro Martinez leaves for Barcelona this summer, according to a report.

Mundo Deportivo report that Alexandre Lacazette is becoming Inter Milan’s first-choice signing this summer.

The Serie A club had others targets, but they’ve already ruled out a move for Edinson Cavani or Timo Werner, leaving Lacazette in pole position.

This all depends on what happens with Lautaro Martinez. Right now, Barcelona are trying to negotiate his signing, but it’s not a simple move. Inter are insisting they won’t sell, and he has a €111m release clause.

Barcelona are one of few clubs that might actually pay a fee that large though. Or at least try to convince Inter to sell for a little less. So it’s still very possible he leaves and the Italian club turn to Lacazette as a replacement.

Inter selling Martinez for a big fee is one of few ways you can imagine a club having enough spare cash to convince Arsenal to sell their 2018/19 Player of the Season.

We covered a similar rumour of Inter’s interest in Lacazette last week, though that report suggested the player himself doesn’t want the move. Presumably, we’ll find out whether that’s true if and when the series of transfers get going.
