Former Gunner Chuba Akpom scored a winning goal against Crete in the Greek Super League play-offs this weekend. The striker left Arsenal for PAOK Salonika in 2018, and he’s had a positive couple of years since then.

In his first campaign, Akpom provided 13 goal contributions for his new side as they won the Greek Super League unbeaten and lifted their domestic cup. He scored the winning goal in the final, as well as starring in a crucial win over Olympiacos in the title run-in.

This time around, PAOK won’t win the league title, sitting 14 points behind Olympiacos. However, they have a 3-2 lead over the league leaders in the Greek Cup semi-finals following the first leg, with the second on Wednesday.

Akpom is playing his part once again, with 10 goals and three assists so far this season. The 24-year-old reached double figures with a penalty against OFI Crete this weekend, the winner in injury time.

The ex-Arsenal man has started every game since football’s return to Greece. It’s great to see him pushing on with each successive season. Good luck to him with the semi-final second leg next week!
