After his early substitution at the weekend, which we confirmed wasn’t due to an injury, Osei-Tutu started Wednesday’s match against Holstein Kiel.

Following a tight first-half, Osei-Tutu gave his team the lead early in the second. He picked up the ball in space on the right-hand side of the box and finished under the goalkeeper. It was his second goal in three starts since the 2. Bundesliga comeback.

Bochum doubled their lead within 15 minutes, before the visitors pulled one back in the 74th minute, setting up a tense finale.

Osei-Tutu picked up a yellow card for time-wasting with a couple of minutes to go, then helped to waste a bit more with a substitution in the 92nd minute. It finished 2-1.

The win was a big one for Bochum. They’re now up to 10th in the table, six points above the promotion/relegation play-off sport nad seven above the automatic relegation places.

With five teams between them and 16th place, they’re in a great position with six games to go. At the lower end of the table, it’s often more about how many teams you can put between you and relegation, as much as points.
