Kasim Nuhu, Ghana international and close friend of Thomas Partey, admits he’d be happy to see the midfielder play for Arsenal.

Speaking on Instagram this week, Kasim Nuhu explained his thoughts on the possibility of Thomas Partey joining Arsenal.

“Atletico Madrid is a very good club so he is playing one of the biggest clubs in the world and Arsenal is also one of the biggest,” Nuhu said (via GhanaWeb).

“For me, it is his decision because playing in Atletico Madrid is the same as playing in Arsenal. The two teams always make the same category in the league fighting for the 3rd and 4th place to play in Champions League.

“But as we all know the Premiership is the best league in the world. So if he joins Arsenal, I will be happy for him.”

GhanaWeb add that few know Partey as well as Nuhu does. They’re roommates on international duty, they played together at Real Mallorca and they’re close friends. You’d think he’d know if Partey actually didn’t rate Arsenal and the Premier League highly at all.

From that point of view, the comments are just further feeding into recent reports that Partey himself would welcome a move to Arsenal.

The player reportedly likes what he hears about Mikel Arteta, he was an Arsenal fan as a child and he wants the opportunity to live in London. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean the Gunners can afford to sign him.

Partey has a few years left on his Atletico contract and a €50m release clause. That clause didn’t seem so unreasonable pre-coronavirus, but now it’s a huge stretch.
