According to a report from Italy, Arsenal face very stiff competition from Newcastle United if they want to sign Adrien Rabiot.

Rabiot is a player who has been linked with a move to Arsenal in every transfer window since he was about three-years-old.

At least, that’s how it felt.

Under Arsene Wenger, he was a common name in the gossip columns. Then, along came Unai Emery and Rabiot’s name continued to be linked.

Now we have Mikel Arteta and the club still, apparently, want him.

Earlier this month, Calciomercato24 reported that Arsenal contacted Veronique Rabiot, Adrien’s agent and mother, over a loan move in January. He even spoke to Arteta personally, but Juventus decided to keep him.

Tuttojuve now claim that there are three English teams who all want him – Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle, who have all spoken with him.

Their editorial team state that Newcastle are the ‘richest’ team who would guarantee him the most football. I guess they mean Newcastle are the ones offering the best wages and a guaranteed first team spot.

It’s worth noting that the Gunners didn’t push hard for Rabiot when he was available for free from PSG last summer.

The media linked Arsenal with him heavily all year, but, in the end, he didn’t even seem to be a serious option.
