TodoFichajes report that AC Milan want to sign defensive reinforcements this summer, and they’re looking at Arsenal 28-year-old Shkodran Mustafi as an option.

TodoFichajes claim Mustafi isn’t in Arteta’s plans for next season, and he has a good chance of leaving this summer as a result. There are several teams with an interest in him, and Arsenal value him at €10m.

We did see Arteta show some willingness to reintegrate Mustafi after joining. He gave him a run of starts in the Premier League from mid-January to March, though it came to an end when Pablo Mari got fit and Mustafi picked up a knock.

Still, Arsenal have plenty of centre-backs at the club right now. Even under Arteta, Mustafi has made major mistakes, such as in the draw at Stamford Bridge. Would the team have had to fight so hard just to earn a point without that suicidal backpass?

Saliba is joining and Mari is probably making his move permanent, plus Mavropanos is returning from loan, Sokratis and David Luiz are already at the club, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers too when they fully recover. Mustafi is hardly vital.
