Under contract until June 2021, and seeming not likely to extend, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could leave Arsenal at the end of the season, if the end of the season ever comes.
That’s one way of keeping him, I guess (although it isn’t really).
To replace him, the London club are reportedly considering Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic (aged 22 with 24 appearances and two goals in all competitions this season).
According to the Spanish daily AS, coach Mikel Arteta is allegedly ‘seduced’ by the profile of the Merengue despite his difficult first season in Spain, and has made him one of his priority targets.
A move would not be simple as Real said on Monday that they wanted to keep Jovic, on whom they spent €60million last summer.
They see him as one for the long-term, arguing that not everyone is the complete package at 22. They apparently expect him to come good if they give him time.
This seemingly rules out the option of the player moving to Arsenal this summer but who knows what is likely to happen as we move forward into our post-Covid world.
