Arsenal are considering hijacking Everton’s move for Gabriel Magalhaes, as an alternative to the recent reports of interest in Axel Disasi.

Despite previous reports of Arsenal and Chelsea interest in Gabriel Magalhaes, Everton moved into the lead in recent days. ESPN sources report that the Toffees are still pushing hard for an agreement, but the other two aren’t out of the race yet.

Everton made a £30m bid for the defender this week, the minimum Lille would accept. Lille are still hopeful of a counter-offer from Chelsea though. Arsenal are considering making a bid as well.

Julien Laurens also confirms in his ESPN article the reports of Arsenal interest in Axel Disasi. The defender could be available for £20m, and presumably, the Gunners will only seriously chase either Disasi or Gabriel, not both.

Gabriel recently admitted he’s well aware of the speculation surrounding a move to the Premier League. He insists he’s happy where he is, but he’s leaving the situation to his agents, for now.

The Athletic first reported Arsenal’s pursuit of the defender, naming the Gunners as one of several clubs in for him. He’s up to 34 appearances for the season, showing good form before the Ligue 1 shutdown.
