AC Milan are back for Lucas Torreira once again, according to reports in Italy, aiming to reopen negotiations for a summer transfer.
Correire dello Sport report that after their failure to sign Lucas Torreira last summer, AC Milan are planning to return again this year. The Serie A club remain keen and in regular contact with Torreira’s representatives.
The report suggests a transfer would cost around €40m. Torreira is reportedly open to a return to Italy, and it’s just a case of Milan waiting for the right moment to reopen negotiations.
Torreira is currently out with an ankle injury, but the most recent reports suggested his target for full fitness was mid-May. Due to the coronavirus shutdown, it’s actually very likely he’ll return to the training pitches in time for Arsenal’s next fixture, whenever that is.
As a result, Torreira is still on track to be one of Arsenal’s top players in terms of appearances this season. Right now, he’s top of the pile on 33, albeit with five different players sitting one behind on 32.
Combine that with Arsenal’s midfield shortage if Dani Ceballos leaves and Torreira’s contract lasting until 2023, and it’s hard to see why the club would sell. If anything, it’s quite likely they’ll need midfield reinforcements this summer.
