The Daily Mail claim Arsenal are prioritising the signings of a box-to-box midfielder, a creative central midfielder and a centre-back. They’re already starting work behind the scenes to try and do business early.

The reason for the rush for Arsenal is the European Championships this summer. The tournament takes place between Friday, 12th June and Sunday, 12th July, so it’s very early on in the transfer window.

Nonetheless, Arsenal don’t want to end up in a situation where players they want have their values inflated as deals drag on through the tournament. The Gunners feel they might end up not being able to afford their targets if that happens.

As for the actual names of their targets, we don’t know that yet.

The Daily Mail only mention Orkun Kokcu, the Turkish midfielder Arsenal are monitoring, according to reports this week. The media actually reported on links between Arsenal and Kokcu as long ago as 2018.

We’ll have to wait for news of other targets, but it seems the wait won’t last all summer.
