Lucas Torreira came off at half-time against Crystal Palace, leading to speculation around a possible injury. Torreira was one of Arsenal’s better players in the first half, and he’s in great form for the team since Mikel Arteta’s arrival.

Unfortunately, the Arsenal boss confirmed those fears after the game. At this stage, we don’t know if it’s anything serious, but it was definitely a knock forcing him off.

“Lucas has been in good form,” Arteta said. “He’s given us a lot but I had to get him off because he wasn’t feeling good. It’s a muscle injury. We’ll have to assess it with the doctors tomorrow. We will know more the day after.”

The timing is far from ideal. With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang picking up a three-game suspension, Arsenal will likely have to do without two of their best players for the next few games.

The Gunners were already in the market for a midfielder, according to the recent whispers around the club. Until now, it looked like they might put off a move until summer, but perhaps this might change the picture.

On the other hand, Dani Ceballos is back from injury, so at least that’s an extra option.
