Things could start to move quickly with Granit Xhaka, as Hertha BSC want to sign the Arsenal midfielder by next Thursday, according to reports.

Swiss outlet Blick report that Hertha ideally want to sign Xhaka as soon as possible so he can join them in Florida next Thursday. The club have a mid-season training camp in the USA ahead of the second half of the season, which begins against Bayern Munich on January 19th.

Reports last week suggested Xhaka had already agreed personal terms with Hertha. The Bundesliga club only needed to find an agreement with Arsenal to complete the transfer.

These reports are now supported by quotes from Xhaka’s agent confirming they have an agreement to move to Berlin. They informed Raul Sanllehi, Edu and Mikel Arteta about the deal.

Hertha are apparently willing to pay a fee in the region of €25m, submitting that offer in writing.

Realistically, Arsenal should ask for more. Xhaka has a contract until 2023 and he played well at the weekend. The Gunners are also low on quality central midfielders. If Hertha aren’t going to offer enough for Arsenal to replace Xhaka, they shouldn’t sell in January.
