Now 23, Cohen Bramall has been playing for Colchester United since he was released by Arsenal in the great post-Wenger purge last summer and he seems to be doing well.

So well, in fact, that Championship side, Cardiff City, are considering signing him.

Bramall has one goal and three assists in 14 League Two appearances for Colchester this season, with an additional five appearances in the EFL and FA cups.

Life at Colchester didn’t get off to the best start for full-back who was sent off with a straight red in only his third game. Banned for three games he was then dropped for another four.

But since then, he’s established himself as a first-choice pick for John McGreal who will no doubt be loathed to lose his left-back in January, which is when Cardiff are thinking of moving for him.

Colchester are right in the middle of the promotion mix with Bramall a key cog in their side.
