Football.London report Reiss Nelson drew interest from Bayer Leverkusen over the summer. The 20-year-old winger had the chance to join on a season-long loan but chose to remain with Arsenal.

Bayer Leverkusen still want to bring the young winger to Germany in January, if possible. Nelson prefers to stay in North London and fight for his place under new head coach Mikel Arteta.

The youngster recently hired a personal trainer to build fitness and strength after feedback from Arsenal coaches.

Nelson is having a mixed season so far. He started the campaign in the Premier League starting lineup but quickly dropped out when all the senior players returned. Just as he found form with a goal and a couple of assists in two Europa League/League Cup starts, he picked up an injury.

The winger is back and starting again, but lacking the goal involvements right now. If he wants to keep his place in the front three, he has to start getting goals and assists. If he doesn’t and drops out of the team, maybe a loan would be best.
