James Benge of Football.London reports that sources close to Nelson have informed him the winger had a scan prior to the weekend’s match against Bournemouth, revealing he’d need to spend the next few weeks out of action.

Arsenal sources had reportedly previously insisted that Nelson was only out of the squad against Bournemouth for tactical reasons, but it appears they were just covering for the injury.

Nelson was due to join up with the England u21s over the break, but The FA confirmed on Monday that he’d been replaced in the squad after a knee injury.

The timing is a shame, as Nelson had scored once and assisted twice in his last two starts for the club. On the other hand, at least he can use the international break to get the first week or so of his recovery out of the way.

Standard Sport seemingly confirm Benge’s report, claiming Nelson will be out until November – a little over three weeks away. We wish him well with his recovery.
