A report from Spain claims that Dani Ceballos is living an ‘English nightmare’ as an update on his injury confirmed he would be out for another month.
Dani Ceballos arrived at Arsenal with a point to prove.
He wanted to show Zinedine Zidane that the Frenchman was wrong to ignore him at Real Madrid and he got off to a good start in London, looking lively, intelligent and packed full of talent.
But since his first few forays in an Arsenal shirt, he has been largely, well, nothing much.
But then who, under Unai Emery, has?
Ceballos was a player Emery requested personally. He was the man he wanted to use to show why he didn’t need Mesut Ozil, a player he clearly doesn’t like.
Now, with Emery half out the door at Arsenal and just waiting on that final shove which could come in the next week and Ceballos out with a hamstring injury for at least a month, Fichajes in Spain are calling his time in England a ‘nightmare’.
“Ceballos was an express request of the head of the London team,” they write, “but the 23-year-old midfielder is not taking the opportunity to prove that he can be the leader of a team at this level, and also close the mouth of many people like, for example, his coach in Madrid, the Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, with whom Ceballos has never had a good relationship due to the lack of opportunities that the Sevillian player has had since arriving from Real Betis in 2017.
“Ceballos is going without penalty or glory at the Emirates Stadium, having played only 906 minutes to date, spread over 17 games in which the Spanish midfielder has achieved a goal and two assists, putting in irregular performances, going more than less, and now encountering an injury that does nothing but confirm the English nightmare that the player, owned by Real Madrid, currently lives, who, with his performances has many doubts about whether to have his services for the next season.”
