According to a report from Italy, picked up in Egypt, Ivan Gazidis’s club are ‘close to signing’ Elneny who is said to be unhappy in Turkey after only a couple of games.

Milan are believed to be looking for a replacement should Franck Kessie finally move to Wolves when the transfer window opens in a couple of months.

Priced at around €15m, the Italians are believed to think this is a reasonable price as they see him as a ‘special player’.

Look, as I keep saying every time I write about him, I like Elneny. What’s not to like? He’s as inoffensive as they come. He’s not spectacular in any way, just a good, dependable-out-of-ten player.

If Ivan Gazidis wants to convince AC Milan that he’s worth €15m, who am I to argue?
