Arsenal have confirmed that Huesca have completed the signing of Nwakali, after a month of negotiations to secure the Nigerian midfielder’s transfer.

The move doesn’t come as a surprise, as Kelechi’s brother Allwell confirmed that it would go through on Sunday. The only remaining details were the player’s visa, with everything else already agreed before the weekend.

Nwakali joined Arsenal back in 2016, after captaining the Nigeria u17s to the World Cup a year earlier, winning the Golden Ball award.

After four separate loan spells and zero appearances for Arsenal due to work permit issues, it certainly seems to be for the best that Nwakali moves on. Huesca are looking to bounce back up to La Liga after being relegated last season.

It’s a shame the young midfielder never got the chance to prove himself in North London, but he’s far from the only one to suffer with the work permit and loan system. Takuma Asano had similar problems before his exit this summer, among others in the past.

Good luck to Kelechi with his new challenge!
