AllNigeriaSoccer report that Huesca have been chasing the signing of Nwakali for more than four weeks now, and they’ve finally come to an agreement with Arsenal.

“Kelechi is joining a new club SD Huesca in Spain. We are terminating his contract with Arsenal,” Allwell Nwakali told the Nigerian outlet.

“We are preparing his visa to go to Spain but everything is okay. He has agreed to move there. SD Huesca just went on relegation and they are doing everything possible to return to La Liga.”

Nwakali joined Arsenal back in 2016, after captaining the Nigeria u17s to the World Cup a year earlier, winning the Golden Ball award.

Unfortunately, he never got the chance to play for the club due to work permit issues. He went on loan to MVV Maastricht twice, VVV-Venlo and Porto B, but it wasn’t enough to earn him the chance to play in England.

Now 21, Nwakali needs the opportunity to settle at a club and play regularly, so moving on to Huesca makes sense for him. It will also save Arsenal the hassle of continuing to organise loan moves for a player who doesn’t seem likely to get a permit to play for them anytime soon.

Assuming the move is indeed made official in the next 24 hours, we wish Nwakali the best with his future in Spain!
