Alexandre Lacazette is out until October with an ankle problem that he’s been carrying for several weeks according to the club, but what games will he miss for Arsenal?

Needing to rest and strengthen it, the forward has already begun his rehab but Arsenal will head to Watford on Sunday without one of their main men.

Given that Arsenal said he will be ‘back in action in October’ we can assume they don’t mean that he will only return to training then, which would otherwise indicate a longer layoff.

We know for sure that Lacazette will miss Watford on Sunday. As he won’t be back until next month we know that also rules him out for our Europa League opener against Frankfurt on Thursday, Aston Villa on 22 September, Nottingham Forest on 24 September (not that he’d have played in this game anyway) and, sadly, Manchester United on 30 September.

It’s likely he will also miss the first two games of October as they come in the first six days (Standard Liege and Bournemouth).

Then we head into an international break and we know Didier Deschamps wouldn’t have picked him even if he was scoring five-a-game, so it seems like we can expect him back for Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Oct 21.

Should he fail to make that game he could return against Vitoria, but that seems unlikely, so the next game is Palace at the Emirates on 27 October.

That means Alexandre Lacazette…

  • Will definitely miss – 5
  • Will probably miss – 7
  • Could miss – 8-10
