Celtic’s captain, Scott Brown, who seemed to have a very close relationship with Kieran Tierney, has hailed the 22-year-old’s Arsenal move to a ‘fantastic club’ as, well, ‘fantastic’.

After he signed for Arsenal at the end of the transfer window. Tierney penned a few emotional messages to his former club and their supporters.

In addition, he also highlighted his relationship with Brown. “A post dedicated to my captain leader legend,” the full-back wrote on Instagram. “Thank you so much for looking after me from day 1. U are one of a kind. What a player what a man. I owe you so much and learned so much from u. 💚 ”

Now, Brown has responded in kind.

“All the lads are delighted for him,” Brown told reporters. “He got a fantastic move and he’s got a fantastic club as well.

“He loves this club so much that it was a hard thing for him to do, but he’s going down to England, he’s going to play against the best players week in, week out and he’s going to be in Europe as well. Here’s hoping we get to the Champions League though.

“But we all wish him the best, he has been a fantastic servant to the club.

“When you look at it, he came through the youth, he has supported Celtic all the way through, he has not cost the club a penny and we have sold him for £25 million.”

Arsenal fans will have to wait a little while longer to see their new star in action, however.

Although Celtic manager Neil Lennon said, shortly before his move, that Tierney would only be out for another ‘1-2’ weeks, the Arsenal medical team have confirmed it will be more like six.

In the meantime, you could do worse than read this report by one of Tierney’s former coaches to get a true sense of the player Arsenal have bought.
