Arsenal, as we all suspected, will not be signing Isco this summer after Real Madrid offered him to Manchester United plus a ton of cash for Paul Pogba.

Of course, few people ever thought Arsenal were actually in with a shout of landing Isco from Real Madrid, even before we were properly skint.

To be fair, Arsenal haven’t been linked with a move for the player since December perhaps indicating that sections of the press have caught up with what is actually going on in North London.

How much truth there is to Real Madrid’s offer to Manchester United remains to be seen.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the La Liga side have offered Manchester United the chance to sign either Gareth Bale, a player they’ve reportedly wanted for a while, or Isco, plus £72m for Paul Pogba who has really failed to show his best at Old Trafford.

The Manchester Evening News report that Real Madrid had previously been willing to pay United’s £134m asking price for Pogba but now want to include a player instead of paying just cash.

This indicates they value Isco at around £62m, 50% more than Arsenal’s entire transfer budget for the summer.

In news about other players Arsenal have been linked with but have no chance of signing, Manchester City have reportedly ‘cooled their interest’ in Harry Maguire after Manchester United had a large bid rejected. They won’t ‘break the bank’ apparently.

It was reported last week that Arsenal bid £50m for the Leicester man AFTER the Foxes rejected a £70m United bid.
