It looks like Arsenal could well land Everton Soares from Gremio despite PSG eyeing him up as a potential Neymar replacement.

It was reported on Friday that Arsenal were close to sealing a €40m deal for the 23-year-old winger. PSG’s sporting director – Leonardo – was obviously hoping to count on his own Brazilian connections to land the player but it looks as if Edu could win out.

That’s according to Le10Sport, anyway, who write, “According to Marca’s information, Arsenal is close to securing the services of Everton Soares. While Gremio and the Gunners would have agreed to a transfer, the London club has chartered a medical team in Brazil for the player to pass his tests while the two clubs conclude the final details of the transaction.

“Another indication of the destination of Everton, the Brazilian is learning English as can be seen on one of his Instagram publications.

“PSG should definitely give up on Everton Soares.”

The player’s agent is reportedly pushing for a move to England and the riches of the Premier League.

There is still a lot of circular reporting going on with this story but there seems an awful lot of smoke for there to be no fire.

Certainly seems one to keep an eye on.
