Laurent Koscielny has apparently agreed terms with both Rennes and Bordeaux and now the Bordeaux boss has been speaking about the situation.

Despite saying ‘he’s not our player’, indicating he shouldn’t be talking about him, Paulo Sousa, the Bordeaux manager, carried on talking about him anyway.

“I have already said it, he is not our player,” Sousa said.

“He is a player that every team would like to have because of his experience, the quality of his play and everything that he represents in football. We are in the market for central defenders because Jules Koundé has left and so we are looking for another player to replace him.

“All talks are ongoing but once again he is not our player. We are working hard to give ourselves the chance to have a player with his characteristics.”

Of course, agreeing terms with a player means nothing if you can’t agree them with the club that owns his contract and nobody has done that with Arsenal yet.

Koscielny and his lawyers was said to be meeting with Arsenal and theirs at the end of last week, so hopefully they’ve found some way to sort this mess out.

Our captain clearly wants to leave, so much so that he’s willing to throw away his relationship with the club and fans, so Arsenal need to set a realistic price.

Koscielny also needs to tell Rennes and Bordeaux that he made a mistake, his contract was always until 2020 and they need to cough up a reasonable fee.

This isn’t complicated.
