The Telegraph write that Arsenal and Real Madrid are edging closer to an agreement that will see Ceballos join for the 2019/20 campaign.

The Gunners are looking for a player to fill the gap in midfield left by Aaron Ramsey’s departure, and the deal is also beneficial for Ceballos and Madrid who want him to receive regular game time.

Raul Sanllehi has reportedly returned to London to continue his transfer business away from the pre-season tour, though it’s likely Arsenal representatives will also be meeting Real Madrid staff on the day of their friendly match on Tuesday.

Ceballos made 34 appearances for Real Madrid last season, but only 19 of them were starts. Clearly, he could be starting more regularly for Arsenal given the problems in the middle at the club.

The midfielder scored twice and assisted twice for Spain at the u21 European Championship this summer, helping his country to win the tournament. He’s also made his senior international debut, making six appearances to date, scoring once and assisting once.
