Arsenal talks to sign Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid on a season-long loan deal could be concluded by Wednesday night, according to reports.
Goal report that Arsenal’s capture of Ceballos is ‘set to be finalised in the coming days’. Talks are reportedly on the right track, and Goal suggest a deal could be concluded on Wednesday when the two teams meet for their International Champions Cup match.
Ceballos is still on holiday as things stand, after competing successfully in the u21 European Championship this summer. The midfielder lifted the trophy with Spain at the end of June, which should put him back in action after the USA tour is over next week.
As previously reported in our articles on the transfer saga, Arsenal have offered to cover Ceballos’ wages for the year, and Goal add that they’ll also pay a loan fee.
This deal is essentially a stopgap solution to the departure of Aaron Ramsey. Arsenal needed to fill the position this summer, but they also needed to make signings in a number of other areas, so a loan allows them to put off the midfield recruitment for another year.
The sooner it’s done, the quicker Arsenal can move on to focus on those other areas, so the club will surely push to finalise things in their meeting with Madrid next week.
