Arsenal have stepped up their interest in AS Roma winger Cengiz Under, according to reports in Turkey.

A source close to Under has told Turkish-Football that both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are still keen on the 21-year-old, after plenty of reports linking the two clubs to the AS Roma star in the past.

Roma aren’t keen to sell the winger though, and they plan to hold onto him unless their £44m valuation is met. That’s not exactly surprising, given Under scored six goals and provided nine assists in 33 appearances this season, despite a mid-season muscle tear.

Turkish-Football claim Under feels he should be earning more money than his current contract in Rome, and he also sees his future in the Premier League.

Reliable reports from Di Marzio journalist Fabrizio Romano in March confirmed that Arsenal had shown interest in Under in the January window, but they were obviously restricted to a budget of essentially nothing at the time.

The Gunners still don’t have much to spend in the current window after missing out on the Champions League though, so this deal may be beyond them.
