AC Milan preparing €35-40m bid for Lucas Torreira: Arsenal want €50m

AC Milan are preparing a €35-40m bid for Lucas Torreira after appointing the Uruguayan’s former club coach Marco Giampaolo as their manager, according to reports in Italy.

Italian outlet Gazzetta.it reports that Torreira is at the top of Giampaolo’s summer wishlist, along with Dennis Praet. However, the 23-year-old’s price tag is causing problems, as Milan consider it ‘excessive’.

Tuttosport (via Football-Italia) report that Milan are willing to pay between €35m and €40m for the Arsenal midfielder, but La Gazzetta dello Sport claim the Gunners want at least €50m.

That makes sense, considering Torreira only signed for €30m last summer, and his first season of adaptation to English football was very impressive. There’s no reason Arsenal would want to sell at a loss right now, nor move him on for close to what they paid.

This transfer still seems a bit farfetched right now. Arsenal could obviously use a boost in transfer funds, but Torreira is one of the squad’s more valuable assets, the kind they should only sell for silly money. Milan don’t seem to have the budget for a purchase like that.
