Italian outlet Tuttosport (via Il Milanista) report that the club could attempt a move for Mustafi, and they claim it’s likely the defender will leave Arsenal this summer. At the moment, it’s not certain exactly how the German will depart, with both a loan and a permanent transfer still on the table.

Milan transfer news account @NonEvoluto on Twitter add that Mustafi has been offered to the Serie A side, and they’ll make a decision over whether to sign him at the end of the campaign.

Mustafi has had his standard season with Arsenal, with a number of good performances cancelled out by individual errors at crucial moments losing matches. From the penalty against Spurs at Wembley to ducking out of the way of Wilfried Zaha at the Emirates, Gunners supporters have lost patience with the centre-back.

That doesn’t mean he couldn’t succeed somewhere else, in a different league in a different system. Trying to make that work is probably best for all parties at this stage, so if Milan are interested, that’s a start.
