Napoli have total agreement to sign Hirving Lozano from PSV for €40m on a five-year contract, according to reports in Italy.

Corriere dello Sport (via Football-Italia) reported on Saturday morning that the deal for Lozano is done. Napoli and PSV have reached an agreement for the winger after Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, Carlo Ancelotti and the player’s agent Mino Raiola sat down to negotiate the details of a transfer recently.

If true, that would mean another potential Arsenal transfer target off the table. In January, there were reports suggesting the Gunners were ‘increasing their interest’ in Lozano, and they were looking into the possibility of a €30m summer move. Whether they’d be willing to up that to €40m and match Napoli’s bid remains to be seen.

Lozano has had an excellent season in the Netherlands, scoring 21 goals and assisting 12 in 40 appearances from the wings with PSV. He scored against Spurs and Inter Milan in the Champions League group stage despite his team failing to win a single game, and he also has a goal against CL semi-finalists Ajax this campaign.

Arsenal need that sort of goalscoring contribution from wide areas in their team, but if the rumours are true it may already be too late to sign Lozano. We’ll see.
