Adrien Rabiot’s agent has apparently approached Arsenal about signing her client (and son) because the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid can’t afford his wages.

Yes, you read that correctly. Adrien Rabiot’s agent – who also happens to be his mother – is reportedly asking for a salary of €8m-a-season for five years plus a €10m fee for herself and thinks Arsenal can offer what the Spanish giants cannot.

That’s what FCInter want you to believe, anyway, and it’s not a big leap. Aaron Ramsey’s agent landed a similar amount for getting the Welshman to Turin for free and Rabiot is out of contract this summer. Juventus and Inter Milan have also been approached after Real Madrid and Barcelona apparently baulked at the request.

It was recently claimed he was close to a move to Real Madrid but that seems to be off at present due to the amounts being requested.

Arsenal, who have less money than the clubs who can’t afford Rabiot have, unsurprisingly, not been tempted by the thoughts of paying a player £130kpw, especially when he has not been selected for a PSG game since 11 December due to his refusal to sign a new deal in Paris. He played seven minutes against Red Star Belgrade in that game.

The net cost of his ‘free’ transfer would be around €50m with FCInter reporting this would double to €100m gross.

At the time of writing, Arsenal are reportedly not interested given the sums involved.
