As silly season approaches, we can strike two names off the list of players linked with Arsenal – Ander Herrera and David Luiz.

David Luiz has confirmed that he has signed a two-year extension with Chelsea, ending speculation around his future that had seen him linked, on and off, with a move across London to the Emirates.

Ander Herrera confirmed that he will be leaving Manchester United this summer on a free transfer. While there has been no confirmation of his destination, it is expected that he will sign for PSG.

Arsenal are interested in signing him but they would have to compete with a ridiculous wage offer to turn his head and that seems incredibly unlikely given the state of things at the club at present.

Given Herrera’s confirmation that he will be leaving United, we can no doubt expect his destination to be revealed sooner rather than later.

While we can’t be 100% sure he won’t end up at Arsenal, I’m willing to say it’s about 98% certain at this point.
