The defender has been unlucky with injuries and will move ASAP as the transfer window closes in Sweden on 4 April.

Samuelsson signed for Arsenal in August 2017 but has made only three starts and eight appearances altogether.

In November she underwent surgery on a ruptured ligament in her foot on what was initially not expected to be a serious injury. She was then back in a cast again as injury struck once more.

Despite signing from Bayern Munich back in May, she only made her debut on Sunday and is reaching the end of her one-year contract.

With Champions League football likely next season, there is no doubt that the club will recruit more players. You do wonder, however, if the Academy youngsters will get the same level of opportunities next season or if they will decide to leave in the summer in search of first-team football or university opportunities in the USA.

Sunday’s away game to Birmingham is a tough test and, should the Gunners win that one, they will seal Champions League football with the title likely to come back to the Arsenal.
