According to Sport Bild (via 90min), RB Leipzig has decided to enter the running for Nelson this summer. As most fans will be aware, Nelson is currently on loan at Hoffenheim, where he’s scored six goals and assisted one in 23 appearances. However, he’s struggling for consistent game time, with just five starts all season.

As it stands, the plan is to return to Arsenal in the summer, and it’s already been confirmed that there’s no option-to-buy in the winger’s loan contract. Nelson has been keeping his options open though, saying he’ll go wherever football takes him next season.

RB Leipzig already currently have an Arsenal loanee playing for them, with Emile Smith Rowe joining in January. The youngster is yet to feature in a competitive fixture though, as he slowly returns from his injury problems over the winter. Again, there’s no option-to-buy in Smith Rowe’s contract anyway.

Nonetheless, if Leipzig were willing to bring in Smith Rowe, they’re clearly looking for someone who can play Nelson’s position. It’s not too outlandish to expect a bid this summer. We’ll see.
