Barcelona want €70m (£59.9m) to let Malcom leave this summer, despite signing him for just £36.9m last summer, according to reports in Spain.

Marca report that Malcom’s future at Barcelona ‘remains uncertain’, but the La Liga club have no intention to sell him for less than their €70m price tag. Inter Milan are the latest team to be linked with a move, reportedly joining Arsenal, who have been rumoured to be interested consistently for the last year and a half.

It’s strange that Barca feel they can bring in so much money for the player though. He’s made 15 appearances this season, scoring three goals, but even that makes the situation sound better than it is. Only six of those appearances were starts, and five of those came in the Copa Del Rey.

In the Champions League and La Liga, the competitions that really matter to a club like Barcelona, he’s made one start against Real Betis. They lost that match 4-3 and Malcom came off after 57 minutes. It’s not clear how that kind of season has made his value increase by £23m.

If Malcom really is going to command such a large transfer fee, Arsenal would be better off looking for a winger somewhere else.
