Arsenal are determined to sign Ever Banega when the summer transfer window opens as the club look to bring one of Unai Emery’s favourites to London.

This latest report builds on one from Monday which started in England but was picked up in Italy and claimed that the Gunners are suffering from ‘great regret’ over Ramsey’s departure for Juventus, although it’s not clear if they mean the fanbase or the club. The latter seem less bothered than the former, that’s for sure.

The hunt, then, goes on to find his replacement and so far the names being linked are anything but overwhelming. They’re also mostly over the age of 30, too.

So, here we are, back at Banega, a player heavily linked with a January move to the club. That didn’t happen and Sevilla were said to want to renew his contract at the club. That hasn’t happened either.

His current deal expires next summer and he reportedly has a €20m release clause.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for 30-year-old Steven N’Zonzi.

Hardly signings to fire up the imagination as Emery appears to want to recreate his Sevilla team in London.
